Energy

Almost all energy used in the United States is produced from imported oil.  When we import oil to meet our energy needs, we are doing our economy a disservice by sending billions of American dollars overseas.  If we had an effective alternative energy program that worked in conjunction with traditional oil energies in the United States, we would be able to keep those billion of dollars here at home.  The United States needs to develop an effective energy policy for the 21st century.  We need to start by creating congressional legislation that helps to develop business incentives and promote job and industry growth for alternative energy products.  These business incentives can produce many new U.S. based companies that will create American jobs.

Arizona can become the nations keystone solar production state.  Along with the many high tech businesses already here in Arizona, a transition into alternative source energies would be economically feasible and help add thousands of new jobs to our existing economy.

We are in a time when job growth is absolutely necessary to rebound our economy.  Congress needs to back any idea that can produce positive economic growth results through self driving legislation, like my future energy bill proposal.  Policy makers need to refocus their vision from foreign dependance for energy to self produced energy.

Job production and economic stability is my number one priority.  I think that by pursuing an effective alternative energy program it will not only produce jobs and new businesses but also allow the United States to utilize forward thinking and get ahead of future problems we will be facing.

While in Congress I will:
-Pursue term tax freedoms for alternative energy producers.
-Divert oil subsidy revenue to increase alternative energy research and development projects.
-Support legislation that would increase our oil production in the U.S. to strengthen our independent energy initiative.
-Support and encourage high environmental standards for domestic energy production to protect communities and water sources.
-Support a revisiting of the Canadian Texas pipeline.
-Pursue the “Arizona Solar/Wind Project,” a bill I am currently drafting that would help Arizona become a national leader for clean energy production and would greatly increase job availability in Arizona.
